Out Land: An Arctic Life

Forthcoming Book

Out Land (ᓄᓇᒥ) is a work of literary nonfiction for general audiences which centers on the personal narrative of Inuit traditional knowledge keeper Johnny Issaluk as told to environmental humanities scholar Kelly Bushnell.

Out Land explores coming of age in an Arctic in which the effects of climate change are inextricable from violent social and cultural change wrought by colonialism; yet, it is a story of personal, collective, and environmental resilience, and “out land” as a space of Inuit cultural revitalization.
