UWF Study Abroad Program

"Making Modern Cities: 1870-1945"
London  |  Summer 2017

This summer I taught on the UWF Kugelman Honors Program study abroad in London (headed up by Dr. Greg Tomso).  I led students through an exploration of the London Borough of Greenwich (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) to consider the role of the Thames and the sea in the economic and cultural development of London and the British national identity in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.  Students visited the Cutty Sark, the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich Market, the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich Park, and the Royal Observatory.
